Books By Philip Effiong II
I have three published works--two novels and a textbook on African-American drama.  Two of my fiction manuscripts, a memoir, and a work of social satire have all been accepted for publication and will be released this year (2008).  Recently I chose to revise one of my self-published novels, Give Me Words, I'll Fly,  and thus took it off the shelf. It should be re-released in the near future.  The texts indicated here are in full production and can be accessed, reviewed, and purchased in bookstores, in libraries, and on the Web.  To locate any of these texts on the Web, simply click on its icon.
MONTY
Although Monty was the first novel I published, it was actually the second one I wrote.  The first one, Give Me Words, I'll Fly, which was also published in 2001, is currently being reworked and reconfigured.  To access Monty, simply click on its icon.  You will be taken to the publisher, First Books Library, where you will be provided with detailed information about the text, including information about me, the author, and a free preview of the work.
IN SEARCH OF A MODEL FOR AFRICAN-AMERICAN DRAMA
Published by University Press of America in 2000, In Search Of A Model For African-American Drama was my first book.  Focusing on three African-American dramatists as representatives of the era of the 1950s-70s, this text addresses the socioartistic implications of the continued search for "Black" theatrical standards.  In the midst of so much dramatic ingenuity and progress, and in a bid to break from the constraints of "White" models, Black dramatists, ironically, seem to encounter a new challenge that emerges in the form of self-restriction.  To access this text, simply click on its icon.  You will be taken to the publisher  where you can purchase the text.
Both of these texts can also be found at :
